User-Centered Requirements Engineering Based on Persona |
Research Framework Our search Strategy We focus on the users in requirements engineering and developed a user-centered requirements engineering methodology based on Persona. What is Persona? The origin of Persona is a mask in an ancient Greek play. C. G. Jung [1875-1961]coned Persona as a social role of people. This idea is particularly suitable to user-centered requirements engineering. Alan Cooper, the father of Visual Basic, advocated Persona in user-interface design.. Challenges of Persona and our Research We found the following two essential challenges in the conventional works on Persona: (1) Lack of systematic method to identify Persona (2) Method of applying Persona in User-Centered Requirements Engineering (1) Methodology of Identification of Persona and Cast We developed a set of systematic procedure to identify primary persona and associated personas based on an extension of Conjoint Measure, a statistical analysis method. We also developed Persona patterns, a documentation framework of Persona. (2) User-Centered Requirements Engineering Based on Persona a) Persona-Scenario Methodology We developed Persona-Scenario Methodology, a system of methods of acquisition and analysis of requirements with scenarios from the viewpoints of Persona. We proved our concept and evaluated the methodology with a series of field study on the mobile phone applications. b) Persona-Scenario-Goal Methodology (PSG Methodology) As an extension, we developed Persona-Scenario-Goal Methodology, or PSG Methodology, to analyze the requirements in terms of goals. We proved the concept by applying the PSG Methodology to real Web applications. |
